Litecoin (LTC) Drops, Chainlink (LINK) Up: VC Spectra (SPCT) Steals The Show!

It isn’t looking good for Litecoin (LTC) investors since the latest halving event. However, Chainlink (LINK) investors have a reason to smile and hope as the protocol integrates with Base. But VC Spectra (SPCT) owners must be feeling on top of the world with the massive traction the protocol is gaining. Let’s go into what this means for both whales and small-timers.

The Halving Event Might Have Set Litecoin (LTC) Back

Although the metrics are better than the last halving event in 2019, LTC is still suffering. A post on X by Litecoin’s official handle put the daily transactions after the last halving at 330m compared to 1.89b after August 2, 2023’s halving event.

However, Litecoin (LTC) has been bearish since August 2. On August 1, Litecoin (LTC) closed at $93.82. One week later, on August 8, Litecoin (LTC) had fallen 10.5% to $83.96. Litecoin had already been on a bear run since early July, and it feels like the halving event accelerated it.

In the weeks leading to the halving, whales purchased LTC in bulk. However, none of these large investors seem keen to offload their stash post-halving.

As Litecoin (LTC) plummets, it remains to be seen if the whales’ waiting game will pay off. As of August 15, Litecoin (LTC) has lost a further 5.34% and is valued at $79.47 per LTC.

Chainlink’s Integration with Base Is Making LINK Bullish

On August 8, the Chainlink (LINK) team heralded an integration between the Chainlink (LINK) protocol and Coinbase’s layer 2 network, Base. The development is a plus for Chainlink (LINK) as it has increased the demand for LINK tokens.

Whales have already taken advantage of the development. Between August 8 and 11, they bought a total of 1.7 million Chainlink (LINK) tokens, according to Santiment.

As of August 15, the opening price of Chainlink (LINK) was $7.40, up 4.2% from $7.10, which was the price on August 7.

Moreover, the integration doesn’t promise only a short-term price increase. Base is a growing network with more dApps coming to the platform. These dApps will utilize Chainlink (LINK) infrastructure. Therefore, Chainlink (LINK) could become more valuable in the long run.
