UDINE, ITALY – On the eve of March 31st, the future of fashion was on full display in Milan, as the popular AR (Augmented Reality) metaverse platform, OVER, hosted Metaverse Fashion Week. Many notable participants like Forbes, Pinko, XR Couture, Space Runners x Balmain, Pet Liger, PwC Italy, Korea’s first virtual influencer (Rozy Oh), and Ilona Song in collaboration with Vogue Singapore attended the event, which was held on the iconic Piazza del Duomo.
The historic event showcased participating brands’ cutting-edge designs via massive virtual models, rotating shoe designs, and smart devices equipped with the OVER app.
A game-changing event
Various guests on the terrace overlooking the Piazza were able to watch the event through the use of smart devices powered by OVER’s map2earnⓇ technology. This revolutionary technology enables OVER digital land owners and the creator community to create a three-dimensional record of locations and then subsequently position or ‘geolocate’ digital assets within the space with a 20-centimeter accuracy. Not only is this groundbreaking in its own right, but it is in fact far superior to conventional GPS as well.
Davide Cuttini, Co-Founder and CEO of OVER, emphasized the game-changing potential of AR, stating that “We are transitioning from 2D to 3D experiences and very soon we’ll be in a future in which we wake up and put on smart glasses, augmenting our reality with entertainment, information, work tools, and personal assistants”. He concluded by saying that fashion is miles ahead of other industries in this regard.
What were the reactions?
Attendees were impressed by the presentation of AR fashion and praised the event. “This is the time to build, experiment, and create,” said Stefano Galassi, Cambridge University’s Innovation Advisor and the Metaverse Fashion Council, before going on to claim that the event unlocked a new level of experience and catapulted digital fashion to previously unattainable heights”.
Jonathan Hadar, Head of Israel’s Economic Mission in Italy, asserted that he was “impressed by the company’s vision of combining the physical and the virtual” and that he is delighted to be collaborating with OVER to link them to the advanced Israeli metaverse ecosystem.
Elsewhere, Marco Ruffa, Digital Transformation Director at PINKO and a panelist at the event, said “This is truly an exciting time for brands as we are actively exploring new possibilities to expand beyond their cities and create live satellite shows for audiences worldwide thanks to the power of AR”. Designer Ilona Song, Matteo Bonente from PwC Italy, and Layla Pavone from the Municipality of Milan all echoed the same sentiment. Layla Pavone in particular was extremely impressed by the event, before saying that “I want OVER in Milan all year long due to the amazing work they’re doing”.
