Incoming US President Donald Trump’s first pick for the attorney general position, Matt Gaetz, remains combative about Congress’ involvement in stock market corruption.

In a Twitter/X post, Gaetz plans to expose the alleged corruption and insider trading in the US Congress, adding that using insider information to generate profits is called “treason.”

Representative Gaetz also pushes for Bitcoin’s legitimacy by filing a bill letting Americans pay their federal taxes with digital assets, similar to El Salvador’s policy. Gaetz also called on the internal Revenue Service to modernize its tax collection, integrate Bitcoin as a payment option, and call for a system to convert cryptocurrencies into USD instantly.

Gaetz Targets Corruption In The US Congress

Gaetz also shares his insights and plan under the new government. The lawmaker also disclosed that he’s ready to investigate and target officials involved in stock market manipulation.

For Gaetz, these actions are considered a betrayal of public trust and “treason.” He added that those guilty of insider trading betray the public; politicians pocket profits from insider trading, so the American public suffers.

It’s Time To Uncover The Dirty Secrets — Lawmaker

According to Gaetz’s post, he’s ready to investigate and bring all wrongdoings to the public. Gaetz is planning to push for the Stock Act, which was passed to address insider trading in the US Congress, but Gaetz said its rules aren’t implemented.

According to the Stock Act, lawmakers must be transparent with their stock traders, but the representative says this is rarely enforced and followed.

Gaetz further mentioned that violations are common in the US Congress, but the guilty lawmakers get little or no punishment. He then called out members of both parties and promised that this practice would soon end.

Gaetz To Continue His Pro-Bitcoin And Crypto Campaign

Gaetz was one of the vocal supporters of Bitcoin in the last Congress. As part of his campaign, he’s pushing for Bitcoin’s legitimacy and making the asset an option for paying federal taxes. He sees Bitcoin integration as one way to modernize the country’s financial system.

He shared that he’s inspired by his trip to El Salvador, where Bitcoin is a legitimate part of the country’s financial system. Gaetz further explained that using BTC has changed El Salvador and can also happen to the US. Under his bill, the US Treasury Department will accept the digital asset for tax payments.

The Treasury Department can immediately convert these payments to USD to address Bitcoin’s price volatility. He added that some states, including Utah and Colorado, have already accepted crypto payments, and others can follow suit.
