The Shiba Inu lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, recently penned down a heartfelt message for the SHIB community as the new year begins. Kusama also sympathized with those who have been affected by the recent disaster that plagued Japan.
A Healthy New Year For Everyone
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) platform, Kusama wished everyone in the community a “healthy new year.” He also used the opportunity to send out his condolences to those in Japan who have been victims of the earthquake that recently struck the country. The developer sounded zen as he wished for a new year “filled with hope and peace.”
Hope is one thing that the SHIB community will be holding on to as they expect that the Shiba Inu team will be able to build on the remarkable strides they made last year. SHIB’s price will once again be the major focus in hopes that any plans that the team has for this year will be able to spark a massive rally in the meme coin’s price.
Meanwhile, Kusama’s message to those in Japan is significant for different reasons. One is the fact that the crypto token is named after a Japanese dog. SHIB’s roots in Japan have also seen locals develop an interest in the crypto token, and it is no doubt great for them to receive such an outpouring of love from a prominent figure in a community that they feel part of.
Kusama wasn’t the only prominent figure in the Shiba Inu community who showed support for those in Japan in these trying times. Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya also sent out a heartfelt message in an X post. He put up prayers for those in the country who have had to kickstart the new year in such a heartbreaking situation.

More To Come In 2024 For Shiba Inu
A Shiba Inu team member who goes by the name DaVinci shared a positive message recently with Shibizens. A major highlight from the message was DaVinci assuring the community that the team doesn’t plan to rest on their laurels. He specifically hinted that there will be “serious developments, game-changing stuff” in 2024.
Shiba Inu’s Marketing Lead, Lucie, had previously given some insights into what these game-changing stuff might encompass. This includes the Shibahub and Shib Metaverse, which is likely to launch this year. Shibarium is also likely to see more network activity following the migration of Shiba Inu’s native DEX ShibaSwap to the layer-2 network.
Shibarium, by the way, has carried on its momentum from the end of 2023 into the new year. On January 1, the network recorded over 6 million transactions, a figure it has been averaging since the beginning of December.
