Politics in Bitcoin are never far away, and a message posted on the Node Counter front page earlier today only confirms that statement. In fact, the statement they had on their page left very little to the imagination, as it was an outspoken judgement on Bitcoin Core and how the development of Bitcoin has been bought out by Blockstream. It is not the first time these types of allegations appear on the Internet, but this may have taken things one step too far.

Node Counter Goes On The Offensive
Only yesterday, we mentioned how the Bitcoin miners seem to be less bothered by the current Bitcoin block size debate than most other community members. The delay in coming to a solution and implementation has led to many people being either fed up with the whole thing, or they completely stopped caring.
Node Counter wants to spark a fire beneath all community members and reinvigorate the discussion of Bitcoin Core vs. Bitcoin Classic. However, the way they went about things might not be in the best interest of the Bitcoin Classic team, as the message was a deliberate attack on Bitcoin Core developers.
One part of the message reads as follows:
“Blockstream is currently paying off many of the key Bitcoin “Core” software developers. Blockstream has directed the crippling of Bitcoin in order to provide the solution, for their own future, financial gain. These Blockstream-paid Bitcoin developers (for the Bitcoin “Core” software) are enforcing a limit on how much information can be transacted in Bitcoin. This is limiting the number of transactions to just 3 per second, approximately.”
While it is not the first time Bitcoin Core developers and Blockstream are mentioned in the same sentence in a negative way, this kind of notice on the Node Counter website is not doing Bitcoin Classic any favors either. While it is clear a solution has to be implemented very shortly, this kind of “marketing” could have an adverse effect and push community members away from Classic.
One thing the message on the Node Counter websites touches upon is the censorship going on in the Bitcoin world. The main Bitcoin forum, as well as the main Reddit, are filled with censorship and moderators who take harsh action against any topic that does not stroke with their agenda. For a digital currency that is all about decentralization, there is far too much control and power in the hands of a few people who may not have the best interests of Bitcoin at heart.
Bitcoin Classic Is The “Real” Solution
That is the main message Node Counter wants to get across to all Bitcoin community members right now. The days of censorship on Bitcoin development and related topics need to be left behind us, as digital currency can only advance through collaboration and by exchanging various ideas in a mature and professional manner.
Moreover, Node Counter feels all mining pools should run Bitcoin Classic and switch off Bitcoin Core completely. Additionally, community members should move all bitcoin discussions to /r/BTC from now on as this is the one of the only places where there is no censorship involved. Quite an interesting way to spread the message, that’s for sure.
