Playboy’s iconic party mansion will soon have a groundbreaking ceremony that will set the stage for the lifestyle brand’s new mansion erected in the metaverse.

Playboy announced Tuesday that it’s making a penetration into the metaverse with the construction of the “MetaMansion,” in tandem with The Sandbox – a virtual world where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences in the Ethereum blockchain.

Mini-games, organized events, and digital collectibles will all be interesting features of the MetaMansion when it goes into full swing, all of which will be inspired by the brand’s publication history spanning more than seven decades.

With non-fungible token collections, metaverse experiences, and a new creator platform dubbed Centerfold, the venture expands on Playboy’s previous efforts to establish itself in the cryptocurrency-adjacent Web3 space.

Welcome To The Playboy Mansion!

A brief look of the soon-to-be-launched MetaMansion reveals voxelated bunny Playmates lining the red carpet leading to the massive virtual mansion.

One of the virtual Playmates presents the guest with a greeting card bearing the Playboy logo and the inscription “VIP.”

The COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, stated:

“We are excited to introduce its extensive content collection into the metaverse and enable true fans to become virtual neighbors of this renowned brand at a future LAND sale in the third quarter of 2022.”

Considering that someone paid $450,000 to be Snoop Dogg’s neighbor in The Sandbox-based “Snoopverse” in December, it is possible that there will be a high demand for the land.

The MetaMansion And Its Bunny Avatars

The MetaMansion intends to expand upon Playboy’s Rabbitars NFT Project, which comprises of 11,950 tokenized bunny avatars that sold for approximately $800 each in October last year.

Soon, holders of these NFTs will be offered privileged access to the virtual mansion and unique experiences. The details and launch date are currently unknown.

According to Playboy’s chief brand and strategy officer, Rachel Webber:

“The culture and lifestyle of the Playboy Mansion were obviously extremely aspirational, so the chance to duplicate that setting in a way that more people can now enter in a virtual realm is something that we’re really excited bring to life.”

As of this writing, The Sandbox native cryptocurrency SAND is trading at $1.11, down 0.4% in the last seven days, data by Coingecko show, Tuesday.

Playboy, which was founded in 1953, has become a huge global media empire with one of the most known trademark logos in the world.

Its latest collaboration with The Sandbox corresponds with a larger pattern of other legacy firms, such as Christie’s Auction House and Gucci, who have recently entered into the booming metaverse as a new revenue and customer engagement source.
