Bitcoin 2022 Miami Preview: What To Expect From Crypto’s Biggest Conference

Starting this week on April 6th through the 9th, the world’s largest Bitcoin conference will take over the Miami Beach Convention Center and surrounding areas. In the past, announcements include the debut of Ethereum and El Salvador President Nayib Bukele revealing his intentions to make BTC legal tender.

Here is an early look at what might be in store during this week’s conference and a preview of Bitcoinist’s live coverage from the Bitcoin 2022 Miami show floor.

Industry Day: Executives, VCs, Whales & More

The first day of the show kicks off on what is referred to as Industry Day. The show’s open gives members from the industry itself and media some time to settle in and talk about the most important topics. More than 6,000 industry leaders, 80 different speakers, and more than 4,000 companies offer networking opportunities with top executives in the crypto ecosystem, VCs, and other high net worth individuals.

The day starts with a “Welcome to Bitcoin 2022 Miami” presentation on the Nakamoto Main Stage, followed by a fireside chat with Anthony “Pomp” Pompliano and Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz. A full day of panels, chats, and more then begin.

Pitch Day: A BTC-Style Shark Tank

Part of Industry Day also includes Pitch Day, where budding startups and innovative ideas get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to demo in front of well-known investors in a Shark Tank-style setting. It even features a keynote from the always wonderful ABC Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, among many other big names in finance.

Main Conference Day 1: Saylor, Wood, Thiel, Mallers, & Bukele

On the 7th, the public can begin checking out the Bitcoin 2022 Miami main conference. Highlights of day two of the conference include a discussion between MicroStrategy CEO and BTC hoarder Michael Saylor, and outspoken Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood.

Names running deeper within the Bitcoin community will also be there, including Saifedean Ammous, Francis Pouliot, Pierre Rochard, Preston Pysh, Matt Odell, Dylan LeClair, and so many more. There are also keynotes on the 7th by tech billionaire Peter Thiel and El Salvador President Nayibe Bukele. The day ends on a high note with an announcement from Strike founder Jack Mallers.

Main Conference Day 2: Back, Carter, & Senator Lummis

The 8th includes additional panels and discussions surrounding important topics facing the Bitcoin industry regarding mining, regulation, etc. Familiar names for the first names make a return, while the likes of Nic Carter, Adam Back, Lyn Alden, Jameson Lopp, and Senator Cynthia Lummis make an appearance.  A final keynote comes from Mike Novogratz, with Bitcoin 2022 Miami closing remarks from CEO of BTC Inc. David Bailey.

Sound Money Fest: World’s First Bitcoin Music Festival

Although the conference itself concludes on the 9th, Bitcoin 2022 Miami isn’t quite over. On the 10th, conference-goers can also attend Sound Money Fest – a BTC-centric music festival with performances by Steve Aoki, Logic, Run The Jewels, Deadmau5, and many more.

Much like Industry Day also featured Pitch Day, Sound Money Fest also offers a break from the bumping speakers and beat drops, and swaps it out for mic drops. An additional stage offers stand-up from top comedy acts like Hannibal Buress, Michael Rapaport, Jay Pharoah, and several others.

Bitcoin 2022 Miami After Hours & Activities

That is if you still have any energy left to pump your fist, after a week of conference and all-night cocktail parties from major industry brands. Paxos is putting on an invite-only celebration at the Versace Mansion. SoFi has taken over LIV Nightclub and eToro has done the same with STORY for an “Anti-Fiat Social Club”featuring EDM-legend Tiesto.

Rare Vibes AVClub is throwing a Bitcoin Week Kickoff Party with Diplo, Bassjackers, and a special guest DJ yet to be named. There are also a handful of events from Fold and Compass Mining, art exhibits, meetups, and more. Uncommon events are also taking place. For example, there is a live Bitcoin-only car auction, with bidding offered on the first-ever car to be purchased in BTC – a Toyota Prius. An early Bitcoin developer paid 1000BTC for the car. At today’s value the coins are worth more than $46 million.

Crypto Conference Gets Bazaar, Art Gallery & More

If the week didn’t quite have enough going on already, there is also an exclusive 10,000 square foot “Bitcoin Renaissance” art gallery with a live auction offering rare and one-of-a-kind pieces. The auction includes a presentation from Late Medieval and Renaissance Historian, Joshua Rosenthal, PhD and promises plenty of company announcements.

The Bitcoin Bazaar is a peer-to-peer marketplace that is 100% powered by the Bitcoin Lightning Network. Over 40 different merchants will sell antiques, home goods, books, comics, clothing, art, jewelry, electronics, watches, and more. There is also an eSports arena, and the venue will have a Bitcoin 2022 Miami Volcano sponsored by Cash App.
