Augur is one of those companies which has been getting a lot of positive attention over the past year, thanks to their prediction market business model. Just last year, the company was named a Breakthrough Finalist at the Exponential Finance Conference, and this year, the company will be making a return as part of the event’s innovation lab.

Busy Months Ahead for Augur
Companies active in the world of digital currency and blockchain technology always have their hands full with working on new projects or improving existing services. Augur is no exception in that regard, as their prediction market business model is subject to constant tweaking and making small improvements.
It has to be said that Augur has been getting a lot of attention ever since the project was announced. During the 2015 Exponential Finance Conference, the startup was named as a Breakthrough Finalist in their XCS Challenge. Although they did not win the competition in the end, the tone was set for this company.
Earlier today, Augur announced they have been invited to return to the Exponential Finance Conference this year, as they will partake in the event’s Innovation Lab in June of 2016. This will bring additional attention to the prediction market startup, as their approach to blockchain technology has inspired other companies to do the same.
In fact, their recent blog post mentions how, of the projects announced to exhibit so far, a fair few of them are focusing on distributed ledgers. This is quite an interesting trend to take note of, as the blockchain can help improve various sectors outside of the world of finance. Exciting times are ahead for companies exploring the boundaries of the blockchain, that much is certain.
During the Exponential Finance Conference of 2016, MIT Media Lab Director of Digital Currency Brian Forde,and Abra CEO William Barhydt will be giving a presentation. Doing so will bring some more attention to both of these initiatives in the world of blockchain technology as well.
But that was not the only announcement Augur made, as they will be attending the Ethereum NYC Meetup on June 8th. This event is aptly titled “Augur 101: When Ethereum Meets Prediction Markets”, and is free to attend. This Ethereum event will give newcomers an idea as to what Augur is about, and how they see the future of prediction markets running on blockchain technology.
