April 16, 2014 – Atlanta, GA – BitPay, the world leader in business solutions for Bitcoin digital currency, is excited to announce that Bitcore, a complete, native interface to the Bitcoin network has achieved 100% compatibility with the Bitcoin Core test data. Since the launch of the Bitcore open-source project in February of 2014, BitPay has been working hard at achieving full compatibility. These test confirm that bitcore correctly handles all of the test input data in the same way as the Bitcoin reference client, Bitcoin Core. Bitcore is a community effort and adding tests will greatly improve the quality of the code.
“Achieving this milestone provides a stable interface for the Bitcoin network and enhances our continued commitment of open-source projects. It is our hope to continue to support the developer community and build the Bitcoin ecosystem,”
says BitPay CTO and Co-Founder, Stephen Pair.
BitPay is currently looking to expand test coverage and is continuing to welcome contributions for this important task. For those looking to collaborate with Bitcore but not sure where to start, writing tests is a great way to learn about the source code, to gain further knowledge of bitcoin and to improve every aspect of this project. The Bitcore collaboration guide offers details on the process for those new to open-source collaborations.
The project’s goal is to complete and achieve 100% code coverage. A good tool to measure this is Istanbul, and results of Bitcore’s Istanbul report can be seen here:
