The exchange said on October 6 that Circle, Qube Research & Technologies, Ripple and SC Ventures by Standard Chartered participated in an extension of its strategic investment round.
The capital follows an earlier investment led by Intercontinental Exchange.
The Investor List Is The Interesting Part
A $25 billion valuation is the headline number, but the mix of investors says more about what OKX wants to become.
Circle sits at the center of the stablecoin market. Ripple has built payments and digital-asset infrastructure. QRT is a major quantitative trading firm. SC Ventures gives OKX a link to one of the world’s largest banking groups.
Those businesses touch different pieces of the financial stack OKX is trying to connect.
The exchange said it plans to keep expanding across payments, institutional markets, tokenized assets and collateral infrastructure rather than relying only on transaction fees from spot and derivatives trading.
Private Valuation Is Not A Public Market Price
The $25 billion figure is a pre-money valuation negotiated in a private transaction.
It should not be treated as the same thing as a listed market capitalization, where shares change hands continuously in an open market.
Even so, the round is a strong signal of how investors are valuing large crypto platforms that have moved beyond their original exchange businesses.
The strategic relationships may prove more important than the funding itself.
Stablecoin issuers want distribution. Banks want regulated digital-asset infrastructure. Quant firms want deeper electronic markets. Exchanges want all of those flows passing through their platforms.
OKX is positioning itself where those interests meet.
The next test is whether the partnership list turns into products users and institutions actually adopt. If it does, this round will look less like a funding announcement and more like an attempt to assemble a financial network around the exchange.
