The proposal aims to foster collaboration between the two communities to enhance their platforms, enhance security and privacy, and cater financially for each other.
Privacy-focused layer 1 blockchain Namada launches a proposal to partner with Osmosis, another layer 1 blockchain via a decentralized governance vote. If successful, the partnership will further strengthen the collaboration between the two parties and play a role in enhancing privacy and security across Namada and Osmosis ecosystems.
The announcement, released Monday, confirms the proposal was sanctioned by the Namada team and made official by Namada co-founder Christopher Goes on the Osmosis decentralized governance forum. The latest move adds to several partnerships between Namada-affiliated partners and Osmosis, with an aim to strengthen multi-chain privacy for users across the platforms. Additionally, the partnership will open channels to boost development across the blockchains, build stronger communities, offer collaborative grants, and share technology etc.
“With this proposal, Namada aims to give thanks and to set the stage for future cooperation,” Goes said on submitting the proposal to the Osmosis governance forum. “I look forward to many opportunities for positive-sum collaboration between the Namada and Osmosis ecosystems, including collaborative grants funding, shielded actions, Ferveo, and more.”
In addition, the L1 blockchain platform is interested in allocating continuous public goods funding to a grants pool managed by the Osmosis Grants Program, with the goal of funding projects that offer benefits to both the Osmosis and Namada ecosystems.
The partnership between Namada and Osmosis stretches further with the co-founders of both platforms, Namada’s Goes and Osmosis Labs’ co-founders Sunny Aggarwal and Dev Ojha having a brief history in the past as employees at Tendermint Inc., core contributor to the Cosmos network.
Speaking on the proposal set by Goes, Sunny Aggarwal, co-founder of Osmosis Labs believes the prospective partners will be key in enhancing privacy for their users using Namada’s proof-of-stake L1 muli-chain privacy protocol. The latest security innovations by Namada including the shielded transactions for fungible and non-fungible assets, will allow $OSMO holders and Osmosis users to seamlessly benefit from both the privacy features of Namada and the trading capabilities of Osmosis.
“Preserving privacy has never been more important than it is today,” Sunny said. “We’re excited about this potential collaboration with Namada, as it would provide a mutual benefit to both networks — as well as our users — who deserve a private and user-friendly DeFi experience.”
Other connections include Heliax, the development firm behind Namada and intent-centric protocol Anoma, which already has a partnership with Osmosis Labs. The partnership between Namada and Osmosis is expected to bear fruit for the users, creating synergistic features that benefit both ecosystems.
As Dev Ojha, co-founder of Osmosis Labs stated, the partnership with Heliax has been ‘great’. Just last year, Heliax and Osmosis Labs collaborated on Ferveo, a fast threshold decryption protocol for Mempool Privacy on BFT consensus blockchains.
“It’s been a pleasure working with Heliax on the design and engineering of threshold encryption, and shielded actions,” Dev added. “Heliax folks have been great thought partners on the core problems around blockchain design. I’m quite excited about potential further collaboration between the ecosystems on privacy technology, and protocol design!”
The collaboration will also enrich the relationship between the two communities, bringing a raft of benefits, particularly to holders of $OSMO tokens, stakers and LP’ers who would be eligible for an upcoming Namada airdrop.
